In the last five years, Brazil faces a housing deficit of around 6 million domiciles, while the contradictory 7 million unoccupied buildings. So far, neither the government nor the civil construction sector could resolve the issue, which is part of a graver picture with the environmental issues. Researches have been looking for a solution and the hyperadobe system, as a bagged earth construction system, presents many advantages for social interest constructions. Thus, the focus of this study is the fragilities and potentialities of hyperadobe's application in the national scenario, meaning to show it as a possible vector to solve the problem. Through the bibliographic review, it is concluded that the studied technology presents particularly advantageous characteristics to face the problem such as the low costs, the fast execution, the easy workforce training, and the high environmental performance in thermal and acoustical comfort. Therefore, is defended that the introduction of hyperadobe on the public policies on facing the housing deficit would be of great value, working on the difficulties that the system faces nowadays.

Post-Occupancy Evaluation of an educational building: Case study of the ETS-UESC Building

The physical and environmental conditions of educational institutions are determining factors for occupant comfort. The Post-Occupancy Evaluation (POE) presents itself as a methodology for verifying environmental aspects in full use, considering the technical criteria and the users' perception. This article discusses the particularities of the ETS-UESC building, in Brazil, applying POE with an emphasis on the environmental comfort of the classrooms. For this, an exploratory research was carried out where the users' perception of ambience was verified, through the application of targeted forms and on-site measurements of the thermal and lighting conditions using a thermohygrometer and a lux meter, and natural ventilation conditions by design analysis, in the light of current regulations. The opinions were compared with the environmental measurements to identify the limitations of the building and to find the dissonant points. About 85% of users are bothered by the thermal conditions where they are exposed to high daily temperatures, above 30 ºC. In spring and summer, room temperatures are above those recommended by NR 17 standard. The quality of natural lighting is questioned by approximately 80% of users, even having illuminance above the recommended limit of 300 lux in the daytime cycle. How thermal and lighting conditions restrict the use of spaces was proven, making it necessary to discuss active or passive technical solutions to mitigate these problems. Therefore, some factors and technical solutions were pointed out that will assist in the suitability of the project in question.

Esse trabalho propõe um sistema de customização em massa para o contexto de habitação de interesse social para as faixas de renda mais baixa dos programas habitacionais. Parte-se de estudos anteriores que analisaram este contexto em conjunto com as possibilidades da customização em massa. Este estudo utiliza a estrutura para customização em massa baseada em três atributos – desenvolvimento de espaço de soluções, design de processos robustos e navegação de escolhas – para desenvolver o sistema de customização em massa. Este trabalho argumenta que a diferenciação das casas deve acontecer pós-ocupação. Para tanto, estruturou-se processos e sistemas que permitem auxiliar as famílias em suas opções projetuais para que suas necessidades sejam atendidas, à medida que estas mudam ao longo do tempo, sem criar problemas para a cidade. Os processos propostos são vistos como uma estratégia para otimizar o uso de recursos para a melhoria dos ambientes das casas e da cidade. O sistema de customização em massa proposto tem potencial para ampliar o alcance das ações de assistência técnica, quanto ao projeto individual de reformas, permitindo atingir muitas famílias sem a necessidade de aumentar os recursos para tal fim na mesma proporção. Este sistema diferencia-se de outras estratégias de customização em massa para habitação por incluir os processos de pós-ocupação como parte da fabricação do produto customizado. Além disso, este trabalho mostra que é possível concentrar o objetivo da estratégia de customização em massa em benefícios mais amplos para a sociedade, além dos benefícios individuais.
