Effects of remote ischemic preconditioning and topical hypothermia in renal ischemia-reperfusion injury in rats

Abstract: Combination of RIPC and local hypothermia provides no renal protection in IR injury. Hypothermia preserves renal function during ischemic events. Furthermore, RIPC followed by warm IR did not show benefits compared to warm IR alone or controls in our experimental protocol.

“…It is a complex cascade reaction process involving multiple factors and multiple systems. The current protective measures against renal ischemia-reperfusion injury include ischemic preconditioning, but there are controversies among scholars of different therapeutic effects [4,5]. It also includes stem cell transplantation.…”

“…Fig 4. Grape seed proanthocyanidin B2 pretreatment could obviously reduce the apoptosis of renal tubular epithelial cells in renal cortical region after renal ischemia-reperfusion injury (× 400), and also could inhibit the expression level of cleaved-caspase3 protein in renal tissue of cortical region after renal ischemia-reperfusion according to the representative micrographs of immunofluorescence staining (× 400)…”

“…Há também aumento da produção de autacóides (adenosina, opióides, entotelina e bradicinina). 67 A hipotermia é usada rotineiramente nos transplantes como forma de diminuir as lesões provocadas pela I/R. Ocorre uma lentificação do metabolismo celular, além de reduzir o estresse oxidativo, reduzindo a inflamação no órgão específico e também em outros que não estejam envolvidos diretamente.…”
