Abstract: A large number of diseases may cause Atrophic skin disorders are caused by a large number of diseases, some of them idiopathic and others inflammatory, in which there is loss of volume of body segments. Localized scleroderma is a rare inflammatory dermatosis, manifested by atrophic skin and subcutaneous tissue alterations. Lipoatrophy may be genetically inherited or acquired as a result of panniculitis, HIV infections or aging. Many treatments have been proposed. Results vary in the acute inflammatory phase an… Show more

“…Autologous fat tissue grafting, in addition to a filling effect, seems to have regenerative potentials presumably due to their adipose-derived stem cells (ASCs) content [ 5 ]. Currently, lipotransfer has been used for reversing fibrosis in various conditions such as scars, radio dermatitis, and localized forms of scleroderma such as “en coup de sabre” [ 6 , 7 ]. More recently, some reports have shown the efficacy of autologous fat grafting in patients with SSc to improve mouth opening and fibrosis reduction in the treated skin [ 5 , 8 ].…”

“…In this case, the patient was re-treated with an additional grafting procedure 1 year after the initial treatment. Previous reports of autologous transfer of fat for idiopathic hemi-facial lipoatrophy have achieved similarly positive results [8, 9]. However, the patient characteristics vary considerably among these few studies.…”

“…This case features the detection and proposed treatment of a rare condition. To date, only three cases of idiopathic facial lipoatrophy have been reported [1, 8, 9]. A case report and literature review is the only possible methodology that can be used to report such rare presentations.…”

“…Balaji SM proposed gluteal- and abdominal-fat grafting for PRS, by which, after the graft is harvested from the area near the inguinal crease, its tags are inserted into the atrophic lesion [ 19 ]. Zanelato TP et al, similarly, reported the implantation of autologous fat globules for PRS [ 20 ].…”
