“…In recent years, much evidence has been recorded on the benefits of practicing physical activity in healthy pregnant women, including improvement in physical capacity, control of the monthly weight gain, return in the postpartum to prepartum weight conditions, prevention of thrombosis, improvement of venous return, reduction in gestational diabetes index, which effectively contributes to the mechanism of vaginal delivery (10)(11) . It should be emphasized that pregnant women should only start or resume their exercise routine after the first prenatal appointment.…”

In addition to practicing physical and aerobic exercises, it is recommended that women perform pelvic floor strengthening exercises during the gestational period, reducing the chances of pelvic organ prolapse (POP).…”

“…Esses dados tornam-se reforçados por meio de uma revisão que disseminou informações entre profissionais de saúde que atuam no Brasil sobre as recomendações de atividade física durante a gestação (27) . Diante das diferenças encontradas nas médias e Pmáx de cada domínio estudado, percebe-se a necessidade de uma abordagem específica para a promoção da saúde voltada para temáticas como atividade física, nutrição, sexo seguro e tipo de comportamento no período pré-natal.…”

“…33 From the decade of 90's, began to arise the first changes as regards the practice of physical activity in the gestational period; however, only in the year of 2002 it was recognized as a safe practice for both the pregnant woman and the fetus, and indicated to all healthy pregnant women. 34 The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recommends that previously active women should be encouraged to keep activities during pregnancy, and the sedentary ones should be encouraged at the beginning of regular physical activity, to be beneficial for maternal health. 35 National studies show worrying data in relation to this, as for example the cohort conducted with 118 pregnant women, which showed a reduced level of physical activity throughout the gestational period declining for the sedentary lifestyle from the 32 nd week of pregnancy.…”
