É possível predizer o tempo de terapia das alterações específicas no desenvolvimento da linguagem?

Abstract: The first vocabulary assessment can contribute to predict the child's therapeutic prognosis. This finding is clinically and scientifically relevant to Speech-Language Pathology, since it offers an auxiliary resource to the prognosis and therapeutic planning in cases of DLI.

“…This fact points out the need for more in-depth research regarding reference values in different regions, since variations in spoken Portuguese in each region (in Brazil and Portugal) can affect children's performance in specific semantic fields. Therefore, the vocabulary test showed good internal consistency and it was able to point out the lexical performance of the children evaluated, which had already been confirmed in Brazilian studies with populations in typical and altered language development (4,(8)(9)(10)(11)(18)(19)(20)(21) . In this way, its use seems to have the potential to quantify the vocabulary of children in early childhood (5 and 6 years old) who are speakers of European Portuguese, which may contribute to the area of language, given the scarcity of tests that allow the evaluation of children with this age group in Portugal.…”

“…Vocabulary is essential for language development and it is shown to be extremely relevant both for mastery of other language skills (2,6) and for identifying changes in typical language development (7,8) . Even in children with specific changes in language development, their initial vocabulary was able to predict the therapeutic prognosis (9) .…”

“…The child linguistic performance in the beginning of the speech therapy may be a predictor of her future linguistic abilities 10 , and the early acknowledgment and monitoring of children with a risk for disorders in the language development offer a possibility to block the development of the pathology 11 .…”

“…This same child presented more severe post natal complications (hydrocephaly and a greater between twin brothers' phonologic systems, which was not verified in this study neither in the pre intervention nor in the post intervention assessments. Exploring the predictors of the therapy time for specific disorders of language development, a study 10 verified that the initial performances of the children in pragmatic and vocabulary assessments are significant measures for therapeutic prognosis. This may be verified in this study if we compare the pairs of twins.…”

“…The interest in conducting researches related to speech therapy intervention in language disorders have increased over the years 6,14 . In cases of SLI as well as in other language disorders, the early diagnosis is essential for a good prognosis since such alterations may interfere in a negative way in the child school aspect 15 .…”
