Only six of the almost 200 valid species of Acanthobothrium (see Caira et al 2017, Franzese and Ivanov 2018, Maleki et al 2018, Rodríguez-Ibarra et al 2018, Zaragoza-Tapia et al 2019 are considered to be hyperapolytic (see Franzese and Ivanov 2018). Five of these six hyperapolytic species of Acanthobothrium, namely A. lintoni Goldstein, Henson et Schlicht, 1968, A. indicum Subhapradha, 1955, A. pearsoni Williams, 1962, A. stefaniae Franzese et Ivanov, 2018, and A. margieae Fyler, 2011, in fact, parasitise either torpediniform rays or orectolo- (Yamaguti, 1934).…”
