Nematoides anisaquídeos e cestoides Trypanorhyncha de importância em saúde pública em Aluterus monoceros (Linnaeus, 1758) no Estado do Rio de Janeiro, Brasil

Abstract: One hundred specimens of unicorn leatherjacket, Aluterus monoceros purchased from markets of municipalities of Niterói and Rio de Janeiro from May to August 2006. The fishes were measured, necropsied, fileted and analysed their organs. Sixteen fishes were parasitized by nematode Anisakidae: Anisakis spp. and Contracaecum sp. with respectively, 1 and 16% of prevalence, 2 and 3.31 of mean intensity, and 0.02 and 0.53 of mean abundance. Two larvae of Anisakis sp. were found in mesentery of one fish and Contracaec… Show more

“…Therefore, it has been recommended that fish should be gutted on board the boat, so as to minimize the migration of these larvae. Thus, it is extremely important that sanitary surveillance professionals and other works within the fish supply chain, from catch to consumption, should be aware of parasitic diseases of fish and forms of prophylaxis, with implementation of sanitary education programs at all levels (DIAS et al, 2010(DIAS et al, , 2011.…”

“…Observations of the tentacular armature showed the chainette and satellite hooks 7(7′) and 8(8′) with different sizes, confirming the specific diagnosis. This species has been reported parasitizing several teleost and elasmobranch marine fishes in Brazil (Alves et al 2002a(Alves et al , b, 2004(Alves et al , 2005Alves and Luque 2006;Cordeiro and Luque 2004;Dias et al 2009Dias et al , 2010Dias et al , 2011Felizardo et al 2010;Ferreira et al 2006;Knoff et al 2002;Luque and Alves 2001;Luque et al 2000Luque et al , 2008Pereira Jr. and Boeger 2005;Pinto et al 2006;São Clemente et al 2004Silva et al 2000a, b). “…In order to elucidate the biology of cestodes that parasitize several species of fish from the Brazilian coast, several studies have been published recently on their taxonomy, parasitary ecology, and on hygienic-sanitary approach (Alves and Luque 2006;Cordeiro and Luque 2004;Dias et al 2009Dias et al , 2010Dias et al , 2011Felizardo et al 2010;Ferreira et al 2006;Luque et al 2008;Oliveira et al 2009;Pereira Jr. and Boeger 2005;Pinto et al 2006;Porto et al 2009;São Clemente et al 2004.…”

“…Spectatus spectatus occurred in the intestine and abdominal cavity of P. brachypomus, but the highest intensity was found in the intestine. Thus, this nematode can migrate through the body of its hosts (DIAS et al, 2010). It has also been found to infect Myletes sp., P. mesopotamicus (Serrasalmidae) and Pterodoras granulosus (Doradidae) in different localities in South America (MORAVEC, 1998), but it occurs at highest abundance in P. mesopotamicus .…”
