Efficacy and Safety of Growing Rods in the Treatment of Scoliosis in Children Under 10

Abstract: Objective: To determine the efficacy and safety of growing rods in the treatment of scoliosis in children aged under 10 years. Methods: A retrospective review of medical records of patients under 10 with scoliosis, treated with growing rods from the period between 1997 and 2012. Results: We identified 35 patients treated with growing rods who met the selection criteria. The average age at the start of treatment was 5.9 ± 2.3 years.
