Show more

“…25 The analysis of the pelvis in the sagittal plane is obtained by measuring three angles: pelvic incidence (PI), pelvic tilt (PT), and sacral slope (SS). A simple geometric relationship links the anatomical constant, PI, to the two position-dependent angles, SS and PT, that characterize the orientation of the pelvis in the sagittal plane: PI = SS + PT.…”

“…1 Spinopelvic balance directly related to postural balance is now a probable prognostic factor in the conduct of the diseases of the spine, particularly degenerative disease of the lumbar spine, and takes into account the different pelvic and radiographic parameters of sagittal balance. 5 It effectively provides valuable assistance for the diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of degenerative diseases of the lumbar spine. 3 It is estimated that this balance may be directly or indirectly related to the appearance or worsening of pain symptoms present in the vertebral spine, and that this influence may be directly or indirectly related to overload on the joint facets and disc.…”

“…The relationship between the spine and changes in pelvic orientation, and how they determine overall vertebral alignment, has also been studied. [9][10][11] In the sagittal plane, we can regard the vertebral column as a linear chain that links the head to the pelvis, where the shape and the orientation of each anatomical segment are closely related and influence the adjacent segment to maintain a stable posture with minimum energy expenditure. 12 Low back pain following arthrodesis has shown itself to be significantly related to decreased sacral slope, increased pelvic tilt and decreased lumbar lordosis, regardless of other factors, such as pseudarthrosis.…”
