Abstract: This study evaluated the effect of sterilization method on the bond strength of caries-affected dentin before artifi cial caries development and after restoration. Twelve bovine incisors were sectioned perpendicularly to their long axes at 7 mm from the amelodentinal junction. They were painted with acid-resistant nail varnish, except on an exposed coronal dentin area. Four groups were formed (n = 3) in accordance with the sterilization method used, before artifi cial caries development and after complete rest… Show more

“…The achievement of artificial caries lesions that are morphologically similar to natural caries lesions 14 was a relevant factor in the choice of the microbiological method, although caries lesions thus obtained show low hardness levels compared with those obtained by chemical or pH-cycling methods. 15 However, the same authors state that the microbiological method is more adequate for obtaining lesions with an evident infected dentin layer, which can be removed.…”
