Propagation by cuttings is an alternative for obtaining citrus rootstocks. The exogenous application of indolebutyric acid (IBA), cutting collection season and genotypes used may affect the rooting and vegetative growth of citrus rootstocks cuttings. Two experiments were conducted to study the influence of these factors. In the first one, semi-hardwood cuttings from the 'Sunki' mandarin hybrids H49 and H77 were collected in the fall and late spring of 2013 and treated with IBA (0 mg L-1, 1,500 mg L-1 and 3,000 mg L-1). For each collection season, a 2 x 3 (two genotypes x three IBA concentrations) factorial scheme was adopted, in a randomized blocks design. In the second experiment, the development of cuttings that rooted in the late spring was evaluated until grafting. In this case, a completely randomized experimental design was adopted, with the hybrids H49 and H77. The IBA treatments positively influenced rooting and number of roots only in the fall collection, peaking at 23.3 % of rooted cuttings. In the late spring collection, rooting was close to 100 %, with the IBA treatment being unnecessary. Around 50 % of cuttings from the 'Sunki' mandarin hybrids were ready for grafting at 14 months after cutting.

4RESUMO -Embora tenha ocorrido uma grande expansão do cultivo de pitaia tanto no Brasil como em outros países, a cultura necessita de informações científicas que subsidiem a definição de sistemas de produção, mais adequados às condições edafoclimáticas brasileiras. Diante disso, o presente trabalho visou avaliar o efeito da aplicação do ácido indolbutírico (AIB) e comprimento de estacas no enraizamento de pitaia. O experimento foi conduzido em condições de casa de vegetação. Foram testadas quatro doses de AIB (0; 1.500; 3.000 e 4.500 mg dm -3 de AIB) e dois tamanhos de estacas: pequena (5 a 14 cm) e grande (17 a 26 cm), sendo que os níveis de ambos os fatores foram arranjados em esquema fatorial 4 x 2, com quatro blocos ao acaso. Aos 85 dias da instalação do experimento fez-se a análise fenológica das plantas e a coleta dos cladódios laterais. Avaliaram-se as seguintes características fenológicas: comprimento da maior raiz (CR), massa seca das raízes (MSR), massa fresca da parte aérea (MFPA), massa seca da parte aérea (MSPA), massa seca total (MST), número de cladódios laterais emitidos (NEL), somatório do comprimento dos cladódios (SCC) e razão parte aérea-raiz (RPAR). Ao término do estudo constatou-se que o tamanho das estacas e a aplicação de AIB afetam o enraizamento de pitaia. As plantas propagadas por estacas de tamanho grande (17 a 26 cm), tratadas com 3.000 mg dm -3 de AIB apresentam o melhor enraizamento. Palavras-chave:Pitaia. Plantas-efeito ácido indolbutírico. Plantas-reguladores.ABSTRACT -Although there has been great expansion in the cultivation of pitaya both in Brazil and in other countries, scientific information is needed to help define production systems which are more suited to edaphoclimatic conditions in Brazil. This study therefore aimed to evaluate the effect of the application of indolebutyric acid (IBA) and of the length of cuttings on rooting in the pitaya. The experiment was conducted under greenhouse conditions. Four dosages of IBA were tested (0, 1500, 3000 and 4500 mg dm -3 IBA) and two sizes of cutting: small (5 to 14 cm) and large (17 to 26 cm); levels of both factors being arranged in a 4 x 2 factorial design in four randomised blocks. Eighty-five days after the experiment was set up, a phenological analysis of the plants was carried out, and the lateral cladodes collected. The following phenological characteristics were evaluated: length of the longest root (CR), root dry weight (MSR), shoot fresh weight (MFPA), shoot dry weight (SDM), total dry weight (TDM), number of lateral cladodes issued (NEL), sum of the length of cladodes (SCC) and shoot to root ratio (SRR). At the end of the study it was found that the size of cuttings and the application of IBA affect rooting in the pitaya. Plants propagated from large cuttings (17-26 cm) and treated with 3.000 mg dm -3 IBA show the best rooting.
