“…This would allow a more rational use with lower drug doses and less side effects. The pain self-management program 36 adopted in this clinical case was very important for the analgesic treatment and aimed at decreasing pain, improving mood and psychosocial functioning of the patient. There has been also contribution of the pharmacological therapy with prescription of opioid analgesics such as tramadol, of non-opioid analgesics such as lysine clonixinate, this latter with proved analgesic efficacy and tolerability for the elderly 37 , and prescription of duloxetine, a painmodulating drug.…”

“…Com o envelhecimento da população e desenvolvimento de tecnologias, houve um aumento da expectativa de vida, que está atrelado ao aumento dos riscos para o aparecimento de vulnerabilidades biológicas, socioeconômicas e psicossociais, acarretadas pelo declínio natural típico da senescência (RODRIGUES;NERI, 2012).
