Abstract: Objective To evaluate and compare the effects of two chest physiotherapy interventions in patients hospitalized due to acute bronchiolitis. Methods Prospective randomized study with a sample of 83 calls for 29 patients aged between 3 months and 1 year hospitalized for acute bronchiolitis. Patients were distributed randomly into two groups: Group 1, submitted to postural drainage, tapping and tracheal aspiration; and Group 2, submitted to postural drainage, expiratory acceleration flow and tracheal aspiration. “…In the present study, PSE and AC showed no adverse events, even in dogs with coagulation disorders, although the number of enrolled dogs was relatively small and further evaluation will be needed to fully determine the potential adverse effects of these techniques. This absence of adverse events has also been observed in infants treated with PSE techniques . As coupage has been described to have adverse effects, PSE technique seems to be safer …”

“…The present study showed no difference in survival rate, although the small number of enrolled dogs would make identifying a survival difference unlikely. There are few human studies that report a benefit of CP . This treatment modality may primarily improve patient comfort and aid in the resolution of clinical signs but not necessarily alter case outcome.…”

“…In patients who are hospitalised with acute bronchiolitis, conventional CPT and expiratory acceleration flow techniques have shown short-term improvements in respiratory distress scores and positive parental satisfaction. (7) Conventional CPT and prolonged slow expiration techniques were effective in reducing clinical scores 48 hours after intervention when compared to only upper airway suctioning in patients with respiratory syncytial virus bronchiolitis of moderate severity. (8) However, its use has been limited because CPT requires an experienced therapist to perform.…”
