Abstract: he purpose of this investigation was to comparatively evaluate the cephalometric changes in soft and hard tissues related to treatment of Class II, division 1 malocclusion with activator-headgear and Bionator appliances. Twenty-four individuals formed the activator-headgear group and twenty-five comprised the Bionator group, while other twenty-four presenting the same malocclusion did not receive any intervention and served as controls. “…Trisnawaty et al reported that the mouth height decreased by 0.39 mm according to the linear measurement of St-Me when the four rst premolars were extracted [19]. However, Maltagliati et al reported that the lower lip height increased (4.61 ± 3.61 mm) signi cantly, and the vertical dimension of the upper lip was not modi ed in the group treated with extraction [20], which indicates that mouth height was increased in their study. The controversy presented by these articles requires further investigation.…”

“…The mandibular plane angle was unaffected during treatment 17 , while in the long-term posttreatment period it experienced a counterclockwise rotation. Growth that usually takes place in the long-term posttreatment period is characterized by mandibular counterclockwise rotation in response to vertical redirection of condylar growth 20 (Table 2).…”
