Abstract: Ovarian hormone deprivation influences the expression genes on lower urinary tract. We demonstrated that a 30-day period of castration down regulate the expression of VEGF, B2M and COX I in adult rats which are involved in activities of angiogenesis, immune responses and cellular metabolism respectively.

“…Using primers for GAPDH designed from DNA templates of rats (5Ј-AATGCATCCTGCACCACCAA-3Ј and 5Ј-GTAGCCATATTCATGTCATA-3Ј), 515 bp of the PCR product were obtained (19). Products of 370 bp and 450 bp for VEGF and 181 bp for HO-1 were obtained from the primers of VEGF (5Ј-TGCACCCACGACA-GAAGGG-3Ј and 5Ј-TCACCGCCTTGGCTTGTCACAT-3Ј) and HO-1 (5Ј-ACTGCTGACAGAGGAACACAAA-3Ј and 5Ј-CAACAGGAAACTGAGT-GTGAGG-3Ј) (20,21). The PCR was performed with a different mode of time and temperature for each reaction product using the Perkin Elmer Cetus DNA Thermal Cycler (Model 2400, Foster City, CA).…”
