Composição e diversidade de mamíferos de médio e grande porte no Cerrado do Brasil central

Abstract: Composition and diversity of medium and large size mammals in the Cerrado of central Brazil. Studies about medium-and large sized mammals (≥ 1.0 kg) in disturbed areas in the Cerrado showed that many species are adapted to anthropogenic environments. We investigated the structure of mammals assemblages in an area of 92,000 ha located in southwest of Bahia and covered by plantations of Pinus spp., soybeans and conserved strips of cerrado sensu stricto. The mammals were recorded in nine sampling campaigns of 12 … Show more

“…This study obtained similar results to others studies conducted in "Cerrado" areas (BOCCHIGLIERI et al, 2010;LESSA et al, 2012). According to Silveira (2010), some animals may exhibit seasonal records throughout the year and specific registers in large time intervals, the duration of a year or more, which may allow short records or absence of such a study.…”

“…Large mammals -We recorded 33 large mammals species (Table 1, Supplement 4), a richness higher than the sum of richness found in three Protected Areas in Brasília (n ¼ 25) (Juarez 2008). Other studies also carried out in other cerrado regions, including Protected Areas (Marinho-Filho et al 1998, Schneider 2000, Brito et al 2001, Moreira et al 2008, Oliveira et al 2009, Bocchiglieri et al 2010, Carmignotto & Aires 2011, Alves et al 2014, recorded 10 to 39 species of large mammals (Table 2). However, any comparison on large mammal richness between areas is limited because there is not a standard methodology used in different studies and the sampling efforts performed for this group in different studies are also very different.…”

“…The Jackknife 1 estimator yielded the smallest standard error values and confidence interval. It also reflects the curve stabilization (Santos 2003) as shown in Bocchiglieri et al (2010). The curves were drawn by means of the EstimateSWin 8.2 program (Colwell 2013).…”
