Parasitoids of the family Chalcididae colleted in pastures and forests using yellow traps, in Itumbiara, Goiás, Brazil

Abstract: The objective of this study was to appraise the occurrence of parasitoids of the family Chalcididae in Itumbiara County, State of Goiás, central Brazil. Insect samples were collected in pastures and native forest areas using pan traps, from January to December 1998. The traps consisted of circular yellow plastic containers (30 cm in diameter and 12 cm in height) containing a mixture of 2 L of water, 2 ml of detergent, and 2 ml of formaldehyde. Samplings were performed weekly by placing 10 traps at soil level (… Show more

“…The genus Conura presented higher abundance within the Chalcididae collected (88%), and the highest wealth of species (42) (Table 1); similar results were found by Oliveira et al (2014) in plantations of T. grandis in the Cerrado biome. In addition, Marchiori, Penteado-Dias, and Tavares (2003), using a collection methodology different from that used in the present study, reported Haltichella as the genus presenting most abundance and wealth of species.…”

“…Few studies on diversity of Chalcididae in Brazil are found, including those conducted by Oliveira et al (2014) in different sites with plantations of Tectona grandis in the Cerrado biome of the state of Mato Grosso, and by Marchiori, Penteado-Dias and Tavares (2003) in pastures and native forest areas in the state of Goiás.…”

“…The Chalcididae fauna in the pastures and forest were similar between each other at the 92.0% level. Among the Chalcididae specimens collected, the species most frequently found was Haltichella sp.4 (15,7%), followed by Conura sp.1 (13,2%) (Marchiori et al 2003).…”
