Patogenicidade de Beauveria bassiana (Bals.) Vuill. sobreTuta absoluta (Meyrick) (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae) Criada em Dois Genótipos de Tomateiro

Abstract: Pathogenicity of Beauveria bassiana (Bals.) Vuill. to Tuta absoluta (Meyrick) (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae) Reared on Two Genotypes of Tomato ABSTRACT-Tuta absoluta (Meyrick) larvae were fed on tomato leaves Lycopersicon hirsutum f. glabratum (PI 134417, resistant) and L. esculentum (cv. Santa Clara, susceptible) in order to obtain different instar larvae. Bioassays with tomato leaves of both genotypes untreated and treated with Beauveria bassiana (Bb) were conducted for each larval instar. Daily mortality was ev… Show more

“…Despite the reported importance of insect pathogens such as Beauveria bassiana (Giustolin et al 2001a;Rodriguez et al 2006), their effect on T. absoluta is relatively poorly documented with regard to South America. Among the different entomopathogens that act against T. absoluta, B. thuringiensis var.…”

“…Essa prática promove a contaminação ambiental, traz danos à saúde do trabalhador e consumidores do produto agrícola e afeta a ação de inimigos naturais , além de proporcionar a seleção de populações resistentes (Siqueira 2000). A utilização de fungos entomopatogênicos como método alternativo e integrado ao manejo de pragas tem sido amplamente investigada (Giustolin et al 2001, Rodríguez et al 2006a.…”

“…Many parasitoids belonging to families Eulophidae, Braconidae, Ichneumonidae, Pteromalidae, Chalcididae and Trichogrammatidae (Hymenoptera) have been established, along with predatory species from families Miridae, Anthocoridae, Nabidae (Heteroptera), Chrysopidae (Neuroptera), Sphesidae, Formicidae (Hymenoptera) and Phytoseiidae (Acari: Mesostigmata) (Zappalà et al, 2013). Some pathogenic microorganisms (Bacillus thuringiensis, Beauveria bassiana, Metarhizium anisoplia) were established in the places of distribution to causes diseases on T. absoluta (Giustolin et al, 2001;Rodriguez et al, 2006a;Inanli et al, 2012).…”

“…Despite the importance of entomopathogenic fungi as Beauveria bassiana Vuillemin and Metarhizium anisopliae Sorokin (Sordariomycetes: Clavicipitaceae) (Giustolin et al, 2001;Rodriguez et al, 2006aRodriguez et al, , 2006b) their impact on T. absoluta is relatively poorly documented in South America. Some results demonstrate high pathogenicity of B. bassiana on larvae (L1-L4) -95.0%, 73.3%, 80.8% and 38.7% respectively (Giustolin et al, 2001). Rodriguez et al (2006a) studied the pathogenicity of the two entomopathogens on the eggs of the tomato leafminer and established that B. bassiana (80.00%) has a greater ability of infecting than M. anisopliae (60.00%).…”
