This study aimed to estimate the prevalence of bullying and to verify the association between nutritional status, demographic and socioeconomic factors, and individual attributes among schoolchildren aged from 11 to 14 years. This is cross-sectional study with a probabilistic sample of 975 adolescents attending public and private schools in Florianópolis, Santa Catarina State, Brazil. Bullying was investigated with a self-administered questionnaire by applying Item Response Theory and dichotomized according to victimization or not. Body mass index (BMI) was classified according to the World Health Organization criteria. Data such as age, school type and location, household income, as well as the education background of the parents were collected by a questionnaire given to the parents. Crude and adjusted analyses were performed using logistic regression. The prevalence of victims of bullying and of overweight/obese adolescents was 13.2% and 29%, respectively. No association was found between bullying and age, sex, school type, mother’s education, household income, and overweight/obesity. The crude analysis model indicated that overweight/obese adolescents and those with individual attributes (fat, thin, tall, short, good-looking, ugly, from a different ethnic background, rich, poor, with a disability and/or other) had a greater chance of being bullied. In the analysis model adjusted by household income and stratified by sex, boys were discriminated for being fat, good-looking, ugly, or for having a disability, while girls were discriminated for being fat, tall, short, ugly, rich, poor, among other individual attributes.

Methods: Cross-sectional and analytical study, with a quantitative approach, performed with children aged between 12 and 59 months, belonging to the enrolled population of a Family Health Strategy team, in Montes Claros (MG). In order to collect data, it was used a questionnaire with sociodemographic variables related to food consumption and family influence over the eating habits. The anthropometric parameters of weight and height were assessed. We used the Student's t-test (p < 0.05) to compare the averages of the eating behavior of parents and the overweight in childhood. Results: 115 children participated. The overweight in childhood was statistically related to the behavior of parents during meals in the domains "model of sweets consumption" and "special meals". Utilizou-se o teste t Student (p < 0,05) para comparação das médias do comportamento alimentar dos pais e o excesso de peso infantil. Resultados: Participaram 115 crianças. O excesso de peso infantil se manifestou estatisticamente relacionado ao comportamento dos pais durante as refeições nos domínios "modelo de consumo de guloseimas" e "refeições especiais". Conclusão: O ambiente familiar está associado à formação de hábitos alimentares e no excesso de peso infantil. Verificar o efeito moderador do sexo e da escolaridade materna na relação entre excesso de peso e fatores associados em adolescentes. Métodos: Estudo transversal descritivo, realizado com 945 escolares, de ambos os sexos, entre 14 e 18 anos, de Ponta Grossa, Paraná. Foram coletadas as medidas de peso e estatura. Os adolescentes preencheram um questionário sobre dados sociodemográficos (sexo, idade, ocupação/trabalho, moradia do adolescente e escolaridade do pai e da mãe), comportamento sedentário (tempo assistindo TV/computador), participação nas aulas de Educação Física e prática de atividade física. Para análise dos dados foi utilizada a regressão de Poisson no programa STATA 9.2, adotandose um nível de significância de p<0,05. Resultados: A prevalência de excesso de peso foi de 18,8%. Houve associação entre excesso de peso e as variáveis idade e comportamento sedentário. Porém, quando as estimativas foram ajustadas para todas as outras variáveis independentes, apenas as idades de 15 e 16 anos mantiveram-se associadas ao excesso de peso. Foi observado um efeito moderador do sexo na associação entre excesso de peso e comportamento sedentário, e um efeito moderador da escolaridade materna na associação entre idade e prevalência de excesso de peso dos adolescentes. Conclusão: A prevalência de excesso de peso entre os adolescentes foi menor na faixa dos 14 aos 16 anos. No entanto, o aumento da idade e a presença de comportamentos sedentários foram associados ao menor risco de excesso de peso entre os meninos cujas mães possuem menor escolaridade. No caso das meninas, um menor risco de excesso de peso foi observado quando as mães apresentavam maior escolaridade.
