Investments and costs of oral health care for Family Health Care

Abstract: OBJECTIVE To estimate the investments to implement and operational costs of a type I Oral Health Care Team in the Family Health Care Strategy.METHODS This is an economic assessment study, for analyzing the investments and operational costs of an oral health care team in the city of Salvador, BA, Northeastern Brazil. “…No estado de Minas Gerais, a população passou a ter mais acesso às próteses dentárias após a implantação da Política Nacional de Saúde Bucal. No ano de 2012, ano de realização do inquérito, aproximadamente 40.000 próteses já haviam sido produzidas e em 2018, este número foi de mais do que o dobro, porém, 10.7308/aodontol/2020.56.e06 ainda há mais de 70% municípios brasileiros sem laboratórios regionais de prótese dentária 4,5 . Neste contexto, estudos que avaliem as necessidades da população com relação à saúde bucal e os fatores associados a estas necessidades podem ser úteis para o fornecimento de subsídios para o planejamento dos serviços de APS de caráter reabilitador, haja vista que os serviços ofertados ou não por este nível de atenção podem impactar o bom funcionamento de um sistema de saúde [6][7][8][9] .
