Abstract: In this work, RAPD molecular markers were used to access the genetic variability and to study the inter and intraespecifc relationship in a group of 37 species, including 56 individuals. A total of 15 RAPD primers were selected for DNA amplification. From a total of 221 bands analyzed, 209 (95%) were polymorphics. The level of interespecifc genetic similarity ranged from 37% between Catasetum complanatum and Catasetum laminatum to 83% between Catasetum triodon and Catasetum uncatum. The intraspecifc genetic si… Show more

“…The number of polymorphic bands per primer ranged from 4 (OPU8) to 7 (OPU3) with averaged 5.4 bands per assay unit. The number of polymorphic band that were observed in this work is lower than the number of bands were reported in the species of Phalaenopsis [15] and in the genus of Catasetum [24]. The fragment size range among 100 and 1400 bp, and the number of genotypes range from 9 (OPA12) to 17 (OPAW-05) with average 13.5 genotypes ( Table 1).…”

“…Dendrogram construction of PEOs is based on 54 polymorphic fragments of 10 RAPD primers as markers by using UPGMA method of Nei's unbiased distance [24]. Dendrogram construction showed that PEO samples different from another and separated to form group by their self at the 0.40 coefficient value.…”

“…The establishment of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) molecular patterns serves as a parameter for identification of clones and varieties and as a tool for a better taxonomical classification and variability determination in orchids (Chung et al, 2006;Minoo et al, 2006Minoo et al, , 2008Parab et al, 2008;Niknejad et al, 2009;Verma et al, 2009;Oliveira et al, 2010;Xue et a l., 2010;Machado Neto and Vieira, 2011;Sharma et al, 2011;Manners et al, 2013).…”
