Abstract: The association of human foodborne salmonellosis with poultry products enhanced the efforts to control Salmonella Enteritidis in poultry farms. Dietary organic acid supplementation is one of the measures currently used to reduce the presence of undesirable microorganisms. Another method to control enteric Salmonella in poultry is competitive exclusion using defined or undefined microorganisms products. Organic acids and microbiological methods to accelerate the development of the intestinal microbiota can be u… Show more

“…Em razão de o Brasil ser o maior exportador de carne de aves e da grande exigência dos países importadores, se reforça a necessidade de maior controle (BACK et al, 2006). STERZO et al, (2007) relata que o uso do produto comercial Biomin ® Poultry Star, que é composto por um probiótico composto por flora normal multicepas, quando oferecido na água de bebida por 10 dias foi capaz de controlar a colonização intestinal por Salmonella Enteritidis.…”

“…The inclusion of organic acids in animal nutrition can inhibit the growth of Salmonella and E. coli (Sterzo, Paiva, Mesquita, Freitas Neto, & Berchieri, ), through a direct effect on the microbiota and through the ability to reduce the pH of digesta in the digestive tract of animals (Mroz, ). In this study, it was observed that the association of the AITC with CAP reduced the population of S. Enteritidis in the feed.…”

“…The addition of organic acids on feed and pelletization are ways of treatments with purpose to eliminate Salmonella spp. (Berchieri Junior 2000;Van Immerseel et al 2006;Sterzo et al 2007;Visscher et al 2008). Although, all feed of studied farming was pelletized, Salmonella Javiana was isolated from two samples of feed and Salmonella enterica subsp.…”
