Show more

“…This value is close to the 98.97 and 97.71 kcal/kgEBW 0.75 /day found by Marcondes et al (2011) andFreitas et al (2006) respectively, working on males of the same genetic groups used in this study. Using the slope of the generated model (Figure 3), there is an efficient use of metabolizable energy for weight gain (kg) of 36.41%.…”

“…Dry matter (DM) digestibility and fecal N were derived from several local grazing experiments on Bh grass pasture [Glover et al, 1957;CIAT Tropical Pasture Program (TPP), 1987-91], and were compared with Whitehead (1995), Dong et al (2014), andZhu et al (2018) findings. Urinary N excretion was computed as in Marcondes et al (2011) and Waldrip et al (2013). Fecal N2O and CH4 emissions factors, and urinary N2O emissions factors were derived from Lessa et al (2014) and were compared for consistency with those of Braz et al (2013), Pelster et al (2016), andZhu et al (2018), plus locally derived emissions from Chirinda et al (2019).…”

In several randomly selected cases, the calculated N balances were compared with data from Marcondes et al (2011) We used values for GHG emissions from Serr and Plains savanna (PlSav) controls from the review article on soils by Castaldi et al (2006). The values assumed for the rate of SOC accumulation in SerrSav and PlSav are the same in the absence of published information on SerrSav.…”

“…These steers were utilized as the baseline group in order to estimate the initial EBW of the other animals. The steers from the maintenance group were fed 11 g DM/kg BW, as described in literature (COSTA E SILVA et al, 2012;MARCONDES et al, 2011). The performance animals were fed ad libitum.…”
