Abstract: Bicuspid aortic valve (BAV) is the most common congenital cardiac malformation, affecting 1-2% of the population, with strong male predominance. Individuals may have a normally functioning BAV, and may be unaware of its presence and the potential risk of complications. However, they may easily develop aortic valve disorders: either stenotic or regurgitant, or both. Today, BAV is recognized as a syndrome incorporating aortic valve disorders and aortic wall abnormalities, including aortic dilation, dissection or… Show more

“…Valvular aortic stenosis results in chronic left ventricular pressure overloading. [4] Compensatory concentric left ventricular hypertrophy allows the pressure-overloaded ventricle to maintain stroke volume with modest increases in diastolic pressure, and the patients remain asymptomatic for many years. [5] Careful hemodynamic monitoring is vital.…”

“…Left ventricular oxygen requirements increase with increased muscle mass. [3][4][5] Hashimoto's thyroiditis is the most common cause of hypothyroidism. [6,7] It is associated with the risk of respiratory failure or insufficiency and increased bleeding perioperatively.…”

“…Correct diagnosis is very important because blood pressure tends to normalize after correction of the aortic defect 10 . In turn, bicuspid aortic valve is the most common cardiac malformation, which may be traditionally associated with coarctation of the aortic arch, but also several other malformations 11 . However, triad bicuspid aortic valve, coarctation of the aortic arch and sinus of Valsalva aneurysm, as presented by the patient in question is considered rare 12 .…”
