Show more

“…However, other oils have been shown to have effect against this fly. Agnolin () showed the efficiency of citronella oil on H. irritans and presented results similar to those of the present study for in vitro tests, in which treatments with 5.0% oil gave 100.0% mortality. In vivo repellency tests using these oils showed a decrease in the number of flies found on treated animals.…”

“…From a chemical point of view, the acaricidal action of clove essential oil is suggested to be attributable to the presence of eugenol (Oliveira et al ., ; Agnolin et al ., ; Martinez‐Velazquez et al ., ). Comparisons of the activities of eugenol and essential oil solubilized in hydroethanolic solutions identified similar activities in both substances.…”

“…Natural plant extracts can be safer to use than SCA because they tend to degrade quickly in the environment and the reduced risk for chemical residues in beef and milk (Hernandez et al, 1987;Gupta et al, 2000;Borges et al, 2003;Hu and Coats, 2008;Agnolin et al, 2010). A plant identified to have acaricidal properties against the SCFT is Lippia gracilis Schauer (Verbenaceae), which is found in well-drained, semi-arid regions of northeastern Brazil where it is produced on a large scale (Pessoa et al, 2005;Cruz et al, 2013).…”
