“…They were lower than (23.3-24.63cm) reported by Pant et al (2008). The value for initial scrotal length (7.88-8.33cm) were also lower than (16.00-16.61cm) obtained by Campos et al (2003) and were not significant (p>0.05). The differences in the initial scrotal circumference and initial scrotal length may be due to breed and age of the animal used for the experiments.…”

“…The goats with a high level of scrotal bipartition demonstrated higher values of scrotal perimeter and testicular length in the dry year period, an observation also made by Almeida et al (2010). Similarly, Villar Filho et al (1993) and Campos et al (2003), concerning morphometrical investigation of male genital organs in dry and rainy periods, suggested an interference of season on the size of the organs, whereas Santos & Simplício (2000) veriϐied the scrotal and testicular response to the increased thermal stress, induced by an insulating bag positioned over the scrotum. Moreira et al (2001) carried out a study in rams, comparable to the goat, observing that the increase on the environment temperature promoted a negative inϐluence correlation on the scrotal circumference and testicular length.…”

“…The importance of this investigation has also been based on Ferreira et al (1988), Vilar Filho et al (1993), Bailey et al (1996Bailey et al ( , 1998, Santos & Simplício (2000), Unanian et al (2000), De La Vega et al (2001), Moreira et al (2001), Campos et al (2003), Pant et al (2003), who considered, in general, the strong inϐluence of the year period on scrotal and testicular biometry in those animal species.…”

“…Among the ovine breeds exploited in the Northeast, the Santa Ines has the highest expression due to the size, production of matrices for milk and because the reproducers are very used at intersections schemes with native animals and exotic breeds, besides the fact that this breed is well adapted to the region (Oliveira & Lima 1994, Nunes et al 1997. Campos et al (2003), Teodoro et al (2013) describe that there is significant influence of ambient temperature on the biometry of the reproductive organs, and in the dry season the values decrease considerably. According to Assis et al (2008), the testicular biometry is considered an important factor of evaluation in sheep due to its high correlation with sperm production and reproductive performance as well as production characteristics, such as body development transmitted to offspring.…”
