“…Previous research carried out in Brazil (Barbosa, Chaud, & Gomes, 2008;Souza & Boemer, 2003) showed that, similar to other international studies (Chou, Fu, & Chang, 2013;Kimura & Yamazaki, 2013;Laurvick et al, 2006;Olsson & Hwang, 2008;Raina et al, 2005;Shapiro, Blacher, & Lopez, 1998), caring for a child with disabilities is strongly centred on the mother, who usually has the greatest responsibility.
