Introduction: Child development is considered a sequence of changes in behaviour and underlying processes that are infl uenced by biological and environmental factors. The screening and monitoring of neuropsychomotor development (NPMD) procedures have been shown to be effective in the early identifi cation of different diseases in childhood.Objective: relate the condition of the NPMD in children aged 36-48 months attending Early Childhood Education Units (ECEU) in Belém, Pará, Brazil to certain personal characteristics and variables of their ecological environment. Methods:The following instruments were applied: Questionnaire of the biopsychosocial characteristics of the child, the Instrument for Measuring Urban Poverty Level, and fi nally, Developmental Screening Denver II Test. Result:The study revealed that of the 319 children evaluated, 77.74% had probable delays in development. The variables that were statistically signifi cant were paternal education (0.000**), the child's primary caregiver (0.039*) and pregnancy planning (0.007*). Regarding the instrument of measurement for the level of urban poverty, the scores ranged from 28 to 52 points, and showed a statistically significant relation with the outcome (0.003*). Conclusion:The high prevalence of probable developmental delays seen in children of the city's ECEU showed the need to introduce early stimulation programs, encouraging the monitoring of child development through the screening, and, in addition, to alert for the issue of negative interference of socioeconomic factors related to family condition and city they reside in on child growth and development. INTRODUCTIONChild development is a complex term that comprises defi nitions originated in several areas, such as paediatrics, physiotherapy and psychology. The most recent studies emphasize development as a process of change and permanence, demonstrating that the acquisition and use of skills integrate various systems and functions of the individual in constant interaction with the physical and social environment. [1][2][3][4][5][6] There are many factors that infl uence the child's health and development, which may be related to heredity and biological adaptation, in addition to environmental conditions (experience and sensory-motor stimulation, nutrition, socioeconomic conditions, affective disorders). The impact of these factors on child development has been the subject of many studies in recent decades, pointing out that identifi cation and early intervention are key to the prognosis of children with development disorders. [7][8][9] It is important to note that the assessment of the child's development seems ineffi cient when it is based only on clinical impressions. A linha de cuidado da saúde da criança é uma prioridade que tem como eixo estruturante o acompanhamento do crescimento e desenvolvimento. A assistência baseia-se na promoção da saúde, na prevenção, no diagnóstico precoce e na recuperação dos agravos à saúde. Este trabalho teve como objetivo relatar a experiência no acompanhamento de atividades desenvolvidas em uma escola na cidade de Maceió, em Alagoas. Trata-se de um estudo descritivo, do tipo relato de experiência, acerca de ações voltadas para a saúde da criança, envolvendo temáticas sobre acompanhamento do crescimento e desenvolvimento, imunização e atividades de educação em saúde. Foram realizadas as medidas antropométricas de cada criança. Das 24 crianças medidas e pesadas, verificou-se que oito estavam com sobrepeso e três com obesidade. Ao avaliar o preenchimento das cadernetas de saúde da criança, apenas nove responsáveis atenderam às solicitações e apenas uma estava com todas as informações preenchidas adequadamente. As crianças compreendidas na faixa etária de 0 a 6 anos foram avaliadas em relação ao desenvolvimento por meio da escala de triagem de Denver II. Esta foi aplicada em 21 crianças, sendo identificado atraso no desenvolvimento de três. Diante deste resultado, foram realizadas intervenções fisioterapêuticas na própria escola e, após três meses de acompanhamento, as crianças apresentaram uma melhora significativa em todos os domínios da escala.Physiotherapy actions directed for children's health at a primary school in Maceió, Alagoas<pre>Abstract: The child health care line is a priority whose structuring axis is the monitoring of growth and development and assistance is based on the promotion of health, prevention, early diagnosis and recovery of health problems. This work had the objective of reporting the experience in the follow up of activities developed in a school in the city of Maceió, Alagoas. This is a descriptive study, a type of experience report about actions directed at children's health, involving the following topics: growth and development monitoring, immunization and health education activities. The anthropometric measurements of each child were performed. Of the 24 children, measured and weighed, 8 were overweight and 3 were obese. When evaluating the completion of the children's health records, only 9 caregivers responded to the requests and only one was adequately filled. Children aged 0-6 years were evaluated for development using the Denver II screening scale. This was applied in 21 children, with a delay in the development of three. In view of this result, physiotherapeutic interventions were performed in the school itself and, after three months of follow-up, showed a significant improvement in all domains of the scale.</pre>

Resumo:Introdução: A intervenção cognitivo-motora é benéfica para o desenvolvimento tanto motor como cognitivo do bebê. Essas intervenções, no hospital, têm sido amplamente estudadas dentro de unidades de terapia intensiva neonatal, porém poucos estudos investigam a intervenção avaliando o desenvolvimento infantil dentro de unidades de internação pediátrica. Objetivo: Avaliar o impacto da intervenção cognitivo-motora no desenvolvimento motor e cognitivo de bebês de 1 a 18 meses, hospitalizados por doenças respiratórias. These interventions in the hospital setting, have been widely studied in neonatal intensive care units, however, few studies evaluate child development within pediatric units. Objective: To evaluate the impact of cognitive-motor intervention in motor and cognitive development of infants hospitalized with respiratory diseases.Method: The research was characterized as quasi-experimental, 22 babies hospitalized in the pediatric unit for respiratory disease were divided into 2 groups (10 in the control group and 12 in the intervention group) without significant differences in biological and socioeconomic data. The mean age was 5.50 months (SD ± 4.51), ranging between 1 and 16 months. Questionnaire was conducted with the infant's parent/guardian for sample characterization.The Alberta Infant Motor Scale (AIMS) and the Bayley Scales of Infant Development (BSID-III) was used to evaluate motor e cognitive development. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics, Student's t test, General Linear Model and One Way ANOVA.
