ABSTRACT:Mimosa scabrella is a pioneer species that occurs mainly in the ombrophilous mixed forests of southern Brazil, assuming considerable economic relevance. As limited information is available concerning the most adequate substrates for producing seedlings of this species, we evaluated the combined effect of hydrogel with three types of substrates and four fertilizers in the initial growth and quality of seedlings of M. scabrella. The substrates were prepared with distinct proportions of a commercial organic substrate, vermiculite (VM) and pine bark (PB): 1 (70% of TF, 10% of VM and 20% of PB), 2 (40% of each TF and VM and 20% of PB), and 3 (70% of TF, 10% of VM and 20% of PB). The fertilizers consisted of a slow release formula (A), a traditional NPK (B), a compost of superphosphate and potassium chloride (C) and no fertilizer (D). The three soil mixtures were combined with each fertilizer in the presence or absence of hydrogel (factorial arrangement). The use of hydrogel promoted a positive effect on the growth of M. scabrella seedlings, probably by retaining more water and enabling increased nutrient absorption. In general, the polymer implicated in increased Dickson quality index (DQI). Additionally, the combination of organic compound and vermiculite in equilibrated proportions aid by pinus bark (substrate 2) were the best substrate. Finally, adding the fertilizers A or B resulted in the best growth performance. In conclusion, the combined effect of hydrogel, substrate mixture and fertilizers improved the quality indexes of M. scabrella seedlings. Considerando as limitadas informações acerca dos substratos mais adequados para a produção de mudas da espécie, neste trabalho avaliou-se o efeito combinado do uso de hidrogel com três tipos de substratos e quatro fertilizantes no crescimento inicial e qualidade de mudas de M. scabrella. Os substratos foram preparados com proporções distintas de um substrato orgânico comercial, vermiculita (VM) e casca de pinus (PB): 1 (70% de TF, 10% de VM e 20% de PB), 2 (40% de TF e VM e 20% of PB), e 3 (70% de TF, 10% de VM e 20% de PB). Os fertilizantes consistiram de uma fórmula de liberação lenta (A), o tradicional NPK (B), um composto de superfosfato simples e de cloreto de potássio (C) e com fertilizante ausente (D). Os três compostos de substratos foram combinados com cada fertilizante na presença ou ausência de hidrogel (arranjo fatorial). Resumo: A utilização de substratos pode garantir mudas com características morfológicas adequadas para o plantio no campo. Diante disso, realizou-se experimento em viveiro com o objetivo de avaliar a influência da utilização de calcário e diferentes formulações de adubos na produção de mudas de Eucalyptus camaldulensis. As mudas da espécie foram produzidas em tubetes com capacidade para 160 cm³, oriundas de sementes que foram colocadas para germinar em areia e vermiculita. Ao atingirem 15 cm de altura, as plantas foram transplantadas para os tratamentos testados: T1 -100% Plantmax®; T2 -Plantmax® + NPK + calcário; T3-Plantmax® + calcário + N; T4 -Plantmax® + calcário + P; T5 -Plantmax® + calcário + K; T6 -Plantmax® + N; T7 -Plantmax® + P; T8 -Plantmax® + K; T9 -Plantmax® + calcário, com dez repetições, dispostos em delineamento inteiramente casualizado. A avaliação do crescimento se deu 90 dias após o começo das análises, com as medições de: altura, diâmetro de coleto, biomassa e, concentrações de macronutrientes e de B. Verificou-se que é importante atentar para a utilização de Plantmax® como substrato, pois o mesmo não disponibiliza nutrientes em concentrações adequadas para todas as espécies. As melhores condições para a produção de mudas de E. camaldulensis foi com substrato contendo Plantmax® + calcário + N; Plantmax® + calcário + P; Plantmax® + N; ou Plantmax® + P. Mineral fertilization and limestone on the growth of Eucalyptus camaldulensis seedlingsAbstract: The use of substrates can produce seedlings with adequate morphological characteristics for planting in the field. Therefore, experiment was realized in a nursery in order to evaluate the use of limestone and different fertilizer formulations on the production of Eucalyptus camaldulensis seedlings. The seedlings of the specie were produced in tubetes with a capacity to 160 cm³, originating of seeds that were placed to germinate in sand and vermiculite. When they reach 15 cm of height, the plants were transplanted for the treatments tested: T1 -100% Plantmax®; T2 -Plantmax® + NPK + lime; T3 Plantmax® + lime + N; T4 -Plantmax® + lime + P; T5 -Plantmax® + lime + K; T6 -Plantmax® + N; T7 -Plantmax® + P; T8 -Plantmax® + K; T9 -Plantmax® + limestone, with ten replications in a completely randomized design. The growth evaluation occurred 90 days after the start of analysis with the measuring height, diameter collect, biomass and, concentrations of macronutrients and B. It was verify that is important to consider the use of Plantmax® as substrate, because it does not release nutrients in adequate concentrations for all species. The best conditions for the seedlings production of E. camaldulensis were with substrate containing Plantmax® + calcário + N; Plantmax® + calcário + P; Plantmax® + N; or Plantmax® + P.
