Mathematical modeling of a three-phase trickle bed reactor

Abstract: -The transient behavior in a three-phase trickle bed reactor system (N 2 /H 2 O-KCl/activated carbon, 298 K, 1.01 bar) was evaluated using a dynamic tracer method. The system operated with liquid and gas phases flowing downward with constant gas flow Q G = 2.50 x 10 -6 m 3 s -1 and the liquid phase flow (Q L ) varying in the range from 4.25x10 -6 m 3 s -1 to 0.50x10 -6 m 3 s -1 . The evolution of the KCl concentration in the aqueous liquid phase was measured at the outlet of the reactor in response to the conc… Show more

“…In this work, the FD method is used to discretize the system of EDOs towards a system of Algebraic Equations (AEs) and can be found in Ref. [17,18]. The system of AEs was solved based on Gauss-Seidel iterative method (Eq.…”

“…NIPHD models can be used to simulate and analyze the SRM method inside PBMR. The application of NIPHD models can be an excellent alternative to predict faster solutions of systems of NPDEs due to the lower computational time [ 15 , 16 ]. In this context, the NIPHD model is able to predict the main characteristics of the SRM method’s dynamic performance in PBMR [ 17 ].…”

“…Among these aspects, there is heat transfer from the gas-solid interphase, mass transfer from the gassolid interphase, diffusion of chemical components into the pores of the catalyst and the gas-solid interactions such as adsorption, desorption and reaction. Emphasizing the modelling of catalytic reactors of LF, refers to the application of able dynamic models to describe the phenomenology of realistic transient and stationary regimes, enabling secure and reliable reviews on control and process optimization (Silva and Abreu, 2012).…”
