Como deve ser tratado um paciente com obesidade mórbida e apnéia do sono?

Abstract: A apnéia obstrutiva do sono se caracteriza por paradas respiratórias que ocorrem em função do relaxamento fisiológico da musculatura durante o sono com conseqüente obstrução das vias aéreas superiores. Os pacientes obesos, em especial com distribuição centrípeta, apresentam deposição de gordura nas vias aéreas superiores, tornando esta mais estreita e propensa ao colapso durante o sono.
