The paper analyzes the infrastructure of public schools in Brazil by examining the hypothesis that the institutions with poor material conditions have students with a lower socioeconomic level. The characterization of the institutions is based on data from the 2013 School Census, submitted to latent class modeling, which revealed the existence of four different school profiles. In order to carry out a socioeconomic differentiation of the institutions, the Poverty In School Indicator (IPE in Portuguese) was created, which uses data from Bolsa Família, an income transfer program. The results confirm the available body of literature on the subject by showing that the location, the administrative dependency, the size of the school and the region of the country in which it is inserted are related to the inequalities of school infrastructure. In addition, the study finds that the public schools with better infrastructure conditions generally have lower proportions of poor students. On the other hand, most institutions with the worst infrastructure profile have mostly poor or extremely poor students, confirming the hypothesis of this research.

“…A infraestrutura das instituições também corrobora com o bom desempenho das instituições da rede nesse exame, pois de modo geral, são dotadas de uma estrutura que viabiliza ensino diverso e de qualidade, tais como, laboratórios de informática em funcionamento e com conexão à internet, e demais laboratórios, de acordo com a especificidade de cada campi, piscina, quadra poliesportiva, bibliotecas salas climatizadas, auditórios, dentre outros. A infraestrutura de uma instituição pode ter influência no contexto educacional do ensino médio (Sousa, 2011;Haguette, Pessoa e Vidal, 2016;Franceschini e Miranda-Ribeiro;Gomes, 2017) Outro dado relevante encontra-se em Silva (2018) em que há nos Institutos Federais, por exemplo, uma verticalização do ensino, caracterizada pela coexistência dos diferentes níveis educacionais em uma mesma unidade, ou seja, alunos de nível médio, por estudarem em um ambiente universitário, podem gozar de prerrogativas que são, comumente, apenas de estudantes de ensino superior, isto é, serem, ainda na educação básica, partícipes de uma realidade que frequentemente só é vivenciada quando se adentra no outro nível de ensino citado, mas neste caso, é de certo modo antecipada. Resumo O Exame Nacional do Ensino Médio (ENEM) é uma avaliação em larga escala e atualmente os seus resultados são utilizados como critérios de seleção de grande parte das instituições de ensino superior brasileiras. Considerando a especificidade das instituições federais de educação profissional e tecnológica que oferecem ensino médio público e gratuito, o objetivo deste estudo é analisar o desempenho das instituições da rede federal de educação profissional e tecnológico no Exame Nacional do Ensino Médio. Esta é uma pesquisa descritivo-exploratória e quantitativa. Para tanto, utilizamos os últimos microdados disponibilizados pelo ministério da educação em 2015. Foram extraídos os desempenhos nos exames das instituições da rede federal, escolas Estaduais, Municipais e Privadas. A análise foi realizada nas quatro áreas do conhecimento (Linguagens e Códigos, Ciências da Natureza, Ciências Humanas e Matemática) e uma redação. Os resultados demonstraram que o desempenho médio das instituições da rede se sobressai diante das instituições de esfera administrativa municipal, estadual e privada, mesmo considerando apenas os 30 melhores estudantes de cada instituição, exceto para redação quando comparadas com as privadas. Concluímos que a rede federal de educação profissional e tecnológica, quando comparado com os demais tipos de instituições apresentam melhor desempenho no Exame Nacional do Ensino Médio em todas as áreas de conhecimento.

Objective: to analyze the behavior and infractional acts of 26 female adolescents. Method: a descriptive, sequential explanatory, mixed study, conducted in an educational center in Northeastern Brazil. A questionnaire was applied including sociodemographic; gynecological/obstetric; behavioral variables as well as variables referring to infractions and institutional incarceration. The Statistical Package for Social Sciences version 23.0 was used for data analysis, descriptive analysis, frequency distribution for categorical variables and calculation of measures of central tendency for numerical variables. In the qualitative stage, data were collected through in-depth interviews, which aimed to interpret quantitative analysis variables. The interviews were recorded and transcribed in full, the data were coded and grouped into themes. Pre-analysis, exploration of the collected material, treatment of the results and interpretation were performed. Thematic analysis was used to identify the core meaning that makes up the communication, whose presence or frequency have some meaning for the object studied. Results: the age ranged from 12 to 18 years and 26.9% attended school. The most frequent offenses were theft (61.5%) and homicide (19.2%). The use of alcohol and illicit drugs, was reported as 53.8% and 46.2%, respectively. All reported being sexually active and 96.2% had had more than one sexual partner in their lives. Seven had already become pregnant, and four of these decided to have abortions. Six (23.1%) declared themselves as bisexual and five (19.2%) as homosexuals. The adolescents mentioned the need for homosexual relations at the place of detention, due to the prohibition of conjugal visits. Conclusion: adolescents who are deprivation of liberty have high social vulnerability.
