A manutenção da vida laboral por doentes renais crônicos em tratamento de hemodiálise: uma análise dos significados do trabalho

Abstract

ResumoA doença renal crônica caracteriza-se pela deficiência de funções como a filtragem de resíduos, a regulação de água e de outros elementos químicos e a produção de hormônios. O programa de hemodiálise utilizado para doentes renais crônicos é destacado na literatura como uma modalidade sofrida e que impõe limitações de ordem física, psicológica e social. Entre os diversos aspectos que se alteram na vida dos doentes renais, o trabalho é apontado como um dos que sofrem profundas consequências na sua continuidade, modificando o cotidiano e a rotina do paciente que, embora não fique imediatamente incapacitado para as atividades laborais, variando-se as condições físicas de cada um, necessita muitas vezes lançar mão de benefícios sociais, como auxílio-doença ou aposentadoria por invalidez. Esta pesquisa pretendeu compreender o significado que os doentes renais, que utilizam dessa modalidade de tratamento e permanecem na vida laboral, atribuem ao trabalho. A metodologia definida para a realização dessa investigação científica foi qualitativa, utilizando-se para a coleta de dados entrevistas semiestruturadas. Os resultados encontrados sobre os significados do trabalho e os motivos da sua manutenção apontaram para a subsistência e o consumismo, a dignidade e a independência, a preservação da saúde mental e a manutenção da atividade pelo trabalho e a identidade de trabalhador. Entre os pesquisados houve o reconhecimento do trabalho como benéfico para o enfrentamento da doença e para seu tratamento. Factors related to impaired comfort in chronic kidney disease patients on hemodialysis

Social construction of the experience of living with chronic kidney disease
