PURPOSES:To analyze the sociodemographic and behavioral profile of sex partners, the proportion of those inadequately treated as well as to verify how many of them were inadequately treated and why some were not treated. METHODS: Quantitative study with data collected from May to October, 2008 at five public maternities in Fortaleza, Ceará. A survey was carried out with parturients who were hospitalized with syphilis and had a stable sex partner. We analyzed sociodemographic variables and those related to communication, diagnosis and treatment of sex partners. The data were entered into the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences and were analyzed using frequency distributions, measures of central tendency and dispersion. RESULTS: The study included 56 pregnant women. Most sexual partners were young adults aged on average 29 years, 50% of them had studied for less than seven years, 82.1 worked and 46.4% had a family income of less than a minimum wage. Of all the partners, 92.9% were the child's father and 69.6% lived with the women. Fifty percent and 12% were alcohol and drug users, respectively. Most partners (75.0%) were told about the diagnosis by the women, and in 78.6% of cases they were aware of the VDRL result before or during the prenatal period. However, 25.0% of the women did not communicate the result to their partners for the following reasons: not knowing the importance of the partner's treatment (50.0%), not being together after the diagnosis (42.9%) and having a quarrel (7.1%). The condom represented the main form of prevention, and the risks caused to health and social life were death, AIDS and prejudice. The adolescents converse with friends/class-mates, and the actions in relation to these diseases were experienced through lessons and presentations. The adolescents' perception regarding sexually transmitted diseases contributes to re-thinking the importance of projects, further studies and public policies for reducing vulnerability and behaviors of risk during the experience of sexuality in adolescence. ENFERMEDADES SEXUALMENTE TRANSMISIBLES: LA PERCEPCIÓN DE LOS ADOLESCENTES DE UNA ESCUELA PÚBLICARESUMEN: Este estudio descriptivo de abordaje cualitativo cuyo objetivo fue conocer la percepción de adolescentes sobre enfermedades sexualmente transmisibles. Fueron entrevistados 30 adolescentes de una escuela pública de Diamantina -Minas Gerais, entre agosto y diciembre de 2012. Las entrevistas transcriptas pasaron por proceso de identificación de los núcleos de sentidos y categorización por el Análisis de Contenido y resultaron en dos categorías: Conocimiento acerca de enfermedades sexualmente transmisibles y Formas de adquisición de informaciones sobre enfermedades sexualmente transmisibles. El preservativo fue referido como la principal forma de prevención, los riesgos a la salud y la vida social fueron muerte, SIDA y prejuicio. Los adolescentes charlaron con amigos/ compañeros y las acciones acerca de esas enfermedades fueron vividas por medio de las clases y conferencias. La percepción de los adolescentes sobre enfermedades sexualmente transmisibles contribuye para repensar la importancia de proyectos, nuevos estudios y políticas públicas para reducir vulnerabilidad y comportamientos de riesgos durante la vivencia de la sexualidad en la adolescencia.

Percepciones de enfermeras de la vulnerabilidad a ETS/SIDA ante del proceso se entrar en la adolescenciaABSTRACT Objective: to understand the perception of nurses on the vulnerabilities to STD/AIDS in light of the process of adolescence. Method: qualitative research conducted with 15 nurses in a centre for the studies of adolescent healthcare of a university hospital in Rio de Janeiro/Brazil. The adopted theoretical and methodological frameworks were the Complexity Theory and the Grounded Theory, respectively. The semi-structured interview was used to collect data from January to August 2012. Results: this research presents the category: Nurses' perceptions of the vulnerabilities to STD/AIDS in light of the process of adolescence, and the subcategories: Risks and uncertainties of the process of adolescence: paths to STD/AIDS; Age-adolescence complex: expanding knowledge from the perception of nurses. Conclusion: once the nurses understand the complexity of adolescence, they create strategies to reduce the vulnerability of adolescents to STD/AIDS. This signals the need to invest in education, assistance and the management of nursing care for adolescents. Keywords: Nursing. Adolescent. Sexually transmitted diseases. Health vulnerability. Conclusão: compreendendo a complexidade da adolescência, os enfermeiros desenvolvem estratégias para a redução de vulnerabilidades para as DST/Aids.
