“…The lower perception of risk among those who were dating may be explained by the trust, as this appeared in studies with other populations, associated with feelings of invulnerability (Albuquerque et al 2010;Oltramari & Camargo, 2010). It was also observed that the adolescents underestimate their own risk in comparison with their peers, indicating that AIDS is seen as a disease of the other, a possibility projected in the exterior world, as found in other studies (Anderson et al, 2007;Camargo et al, 2010;Mwale, 2008).…”

“…Various studies have shown that risk in relation to HIV is perceived as a context which is distanced from the individuals (Adefuye, Abiona, Balogun, & Lukobo-Durrell, 2009;Albuquerque, Moço, & Batista, 2010;Camargo, Giacomozzi, Wachelke, & Aguiar, 2010;Giacomozzi & Camargo, 2011;Silva & Vargens, 2009;Sychareun, Thomsen, Chaleunvong, & Faxelid, 2013). Referring directly to the young, studies indicate that they tend to underestimate their risks of infection by HIV and to overestimate the risks of their peers (Anderson, Beutel, & Maughan-Brown, 2007;Mwale, 2008).…”

“…16 It is noteworthy that scholars point to a trend of displacement of the AIDS epidemic towards the excluded population (social/cultural), with racial inequality being a point of vulnerability for Afro-descendants, with a greater participation of the black population in HIV contamination rates . 17 Adopting regular monitoring in the service as a criterion for inclusion of research analysis is a fundamental strategy to guarantee the quality of the data generated, which was guaranteed in the present study, analyzing clinical-laboratory conditions and the use of antiretroviral therapy. This criterion did not imply a sample loss, since all the individuals in the age group were interviewed and examined on a quarterly basis, supposedly because they were accompanied by the parents or guardians.…”

“…A utilização assídua do preservativo não está ligada somente ao grau de conhecimento das mulheres, mas também deve ser considerada a formação psíquica e comportamental referente ao uso do preservativo. Exemplifica-se com a justificativa de a mulher não usar o preservativo por sentir--se protegida no casamento ou na fidelidade do companheiro 21 . A ausência do companheiro nos cuidados cotidianos da família se configura como outro fator importante na restrição da rede social de apoio dessas mulheres.…”
