In view of the pandemic scenario caused by the new coronavirus, it is crucial to produce knowledge to understand the disease and its impacts on people's daily lives. In response to this demand, the present study aimed to identify the meanings attributed to the new coronavirus by Brazilians at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. We had access to a non-probabilistic sample of 2400 Brazilians, who answered a biodemographic questionnaire, using the technique of free word association, with the induced stimulus "coronavirus," respectively interpreted through descriptive statistics using the SPSS software and textual analysis using IRaMuTeQ. The results were organized into three classes: (1) "characterization of the disease," evoking responses about the treatment, risks, prevention strategies, and expectations of cure;(2) "negative repercussions," reflecting harmful aspects of the disease on mental health, such as fear, uncertainty, and despair; and (3) "positive repercussions," revealing initiatives of solidarity, empathy, and collective care as coping strategies. Differences in evocations also arose depending on the region of the country, employment status, adherence to social isolation measures, agreement with social isolation, agreement with the current president, experience of infection, and level of stress. It was concluded that identifying the meanings that Brazilians attribute to the new coronavirus is important for the formulation of effective intervention strategies.

ResumoOs hospitais compõem o nível terciário da Rede de Atenção à Saúde, os quais englobam conjuntos de procedimentos que, no contexto do Sistema Único de saúde, envolve alta tecnologia e alto custo e integra os demais níveis de atenção à saúde. Dessa forma, a constituição de uma rede de serviços implica um novo modelo de gestão cujos pressupostos estejam voltados para a qualidade da assistência nos diferentes níveis de atenção à saúde. Um dos modelos de gestão que favorece a descentralização e a participação dos profissionais é o modelo de gestão colegiada. Assim, o objetivo do estudo foi conhecer a gestão colegiada na perspectiva de profissionais de uma unidade de internação pediátrica de um hospital universitário. Para tal, foi realizada uma pesquisa qualitativa, analítico-descritiva com 16 profissionais de diferentes categorias de um Hospital Universitário em Minas Gerais. A coleta de dados deu-se por meio de entrevistas com roteiro semiestruturado, as quais foram submetidos à Análise de Conteúdo. Percebeu-se que os profissionais consideram que a gestão colegiada possui entraves, são eles: falha na comunicação entre os profissionais e entre eles e a diretoria; reuniões pouco frequentes; falta de repasse e compartilhamento das informações e de participação da diretoria e; dificuldade de realizar o trabalho em equipe. Em contrapartida, o trabalho em equipe é efetivo nos projetos multiprofissionais. Conclui-se que a gestão colegiada acontece em um meio corporativista e pouco democrático, demonstrando a necessidade de transformação da cultura organizacional para que ela seja participativa. Palavras-chave: AbstractThe hospitals make up the tertiary level of Health Care Network, which include sets of procedures in the context of the Health System, it involves high technology and high cost and integrates other health care levels. Thus, the establishment of a network of services implies a new management model whose assumptions are focused on the quality of care at different levels of health care. One of management models that favor decentralization and participation of professionals is a model of collegiate management. Thus, the objective of the study was to know the collegiate management from the perspective of professionals in a pediatric unit of a university hospital. For this, a qualitative research, analytical and descriptive was conducted with 16 professionals from different categories of of a university hospital. The data collection took place through interviews with semi structured script, which were submitted to content analysis. It was noticed that professionals consider that the collegiate management has barriers they are lack of communication between professionals and between them and the directors; infrequent meetings; lack of transfer and sharing of information and the participation of the directors and difficulty of performing the teamwork. The National Humanization Policy (NHP) goal is to promote the Sanitary Reform focusing the centrality of daily relationships. Despite its complexity, humanization is often understood only as the quality of relationships between health professionals and users, thus undermining its potential. Management issues, including work relations, are debated in the theoretical field but little explored empirically. This research aims to understand how the humanization of management-based on the model adopted by the policy, the Co-management-is considered and practiced by health professionals in the daily work of Primary Care context. Two health units were included in the research, one traditional (Basic Health Unit-BHU) and one with the Family Health Strategy (Family Health Nucleus-FHN). The corpus construction was carried out in two stages. During the first one, immersion in the field, we observed some context aspects and the interaction of health professionals, which were written as field notes. This immersion provided subsidies for the second stage, group or individual interviews, and for general analysis of the corpus. A semi-structured script, which was constructed from the analysis of the field notes to cover each context's specificities, guided the interviews. The conversations were audio-recorded and full transcribed. The analysis of field notes describes the way each health unit works, and the analysis of interviews describes the meanings about management humanization and the practices identified as such by health professionals. The results are separated for each unit, from three focuses: the contextual, the relational dynamics and the meaning-making process. These aspects are analyzed separately, although in practice they overlap. We describe contextual and relational elements that contribute to or hamper the construction (in the case of BHU) or maintenance (in the case of FHN) of a participatory culture and shared management. In regard of the meanings, in both contexts participation in decision-making, teamwork and actions focused in resolution of demands are identified as humanized management, but what these aspects and practices mean, differ in each context analyzed. We concluded it is necessary, in order to construct a co-management culture, to act on the stablished relationships, and, at the same time, on how professionals understand and signify their practices together. Moments of collective talk do not necessarily generate participation and shared management. It is how these moments work that matters and this will depend directly on how the team understands and builds itself. Our thesis describes participatory culture, a central aspect of co-management, as a social construction, something that occurs in relationships and language.
