DRIS norms for evaluating the nutritional state of apple tree

Abstract: For Brazilian conditions there are still no studies on the use of the diagnosis and recommendation of the integrated system (DRIS) for nutritional diagnosis of the apple tree. The nutritional diagnosis of the apple tree is made using the criterion of sufficiency range. The aim of this report is to establish DRIS norms to interpret the results of apple tree leaf analysis in South Brazil. The study covered the apple producing areas of the states of Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina, in 70 orchards selected fo… Show more

“…Serra et al (2010) também relataram menores coeficientes de determinação para o N na cultura do algodoeiro. Esses baixos valores de R 2 para o N pode indicar que o balanço do nutriente na planta seja muito sensível às concentrações dos outros nutrientes, enquanto o balanço dos demais elementos seriam influenciados principalmente por variações em suas próprias disponibilidades, conforme sugerido para a cultura da maçã (Nachtigall & Dechen, 2007).…”

“…Our results are in accordance with previous studies [20,22,23] and demonstrate that the development of the fruit trees nutritional status depends significantly on the proportion between their vegetative and generative growth. This finding is in contrast with the philosophy of the particular nutrient diagnostic systems, especially concerning the causality of the relationship between the crop nutrition status and the crop load [33,34]. Such relation appears reasonable for annual crops as their yield is tightly related to their actual growth connected to their nutrition status, but hardly applicable in perennial crops.…”

“…These models consider the content of particular nutrients and allow evaluation of the nutrient ratios. They operate with a premise that the maximum crop yield can be achieved only when contents of important nutrients are near the ideal or optimum values that are obtained from high yield reference populations [32][33][34]. The question remains, whether the philosophy of these models fully cohere with the above-mentioned demand of perennial plant for nutrients.…”

“…The predominant soils in these areas are the Humic Xanthic Hapludox and Tipic Hapumbrept. The methodology used for the collection of the samples, for the accomplished analytical determinations and for the establishment of the DRIS norms for the apple tree crop is described in Nachtigall & Dechen (2007).…”
