The current study aimed to investigate the effect of testicular artery angioarchitecture on the spermiogram parameters in Egyptian Buffalo bulls. Eight adult buffalo bulls aged between 2 and 8 years were used for semen evaluation. For anatomical studies, the masculine gonads were collected after slaughtering 30 adult bulls and prepared for injection by different masses (Urographine®, Latex and Epoxy) through the testicular artery. The mass activity of the ejaculate was assessed immediately after collection. The sperm motility in fresh bull ejaculate was more than 80%. The overall mean percentage of sperm abnormalities was <18%. The recorded sperm abnormalities were mostly secondary one including distal protoplasmic droplet, fragmented tail, detached head, detached galea capitis and bent tail. The highest percentage of sperm viability was recorded just after sperm collection (alive > 85%). The results revealed that testicular artery can be divided into three parts (abdominal, funicular and marginal parts) along its course. The coils of the funicular part forming a cone‐like structure with its base fixed to the head of the testis. Two epididymal branches to the head and tail of epididymis emanate from the funicular part which continues as pars marginalis on the lateral surface of testis before its division into the lateral and medial testicular arteries on approaching the tail extremity of the testis. The increase in the length of the testicular artery with increase in the size of the testes played a great role in the degree of complexity of the architectural vascular patterns. The degree of complexity is affected by the number of coils formed by the vessel. The increase in the convolutions of the vessel will reduce the speed of blood flow to the gonads. Thus in turn will enabling the thermoregulatory mechanism to work more efficiently and will affect the semen value.

Estudamos em 40 caprinos adultos da raça Bhuj Brasileira os aspectos histológicos do funículo espermático. Observamos que este se acha envolvido por uma cápsula de tecido conjuntivo fibroelástico denso, de espessura variável, pregueada em alguns pontos, e revestida por mesotélio que circunda todo o conjunto vásculo-nervoso, e projeta-se para formar o mesoducto deferente. Em posição subcapsular, verifica-se uma camada de tecido conjuntivo fibroelástico frouxo, de espessura variável, que circunda parcialmente o funículo espermático, isolando nas regiões deferencial e abdeferencial, conjuntos vásculo-nervosos, responsáveis pela nutrição do epidídimo. Na região do mesoducto deferente, o tecido subcapsular acompanhado de tecido adiposo constitui a camada interna deste meso, formando a sua adventícia e abrigando vasos e nervos deferenciais. Na região abdeferencial, pequenos acúmulos de tecido adiposo são vistos de permeio aos vasos e nervos desta região. Entre as artérias, veias e nervos testiculares, bem como entre os vasos das regiões deferencial e abdeferencial, observa-se o tecido conjuntivo denso, intervascular, rico em fibras elásticas, que constitui as adventícias contínuas destes vasos. O arranjo vascular mostra que o segmento da artéria testicular, contido no funículo espermático, apresenta trajeto sinuoso. Estando envolvido pelo plexo venoso pampiniforme, formado por veias testiculares desprovidas de válvulas de calibres variados, apresentando amplas comunicações entre si. As veias responsáveis pela drenagem do epidídimo e ducto deferente estão localizadas em posição subcapsular deferencial e abdeferencial e mostram-se providas de válvulas. O trato das artérias testiculares no funículo espermático apresenta como média e desvio padrão 134,6±38,1cm à direita, e 137,0±33,9cm à esquerda, não existindo diferenças estatisticamente significantes ao nível de 5%, quando comparamos a média do segmento da artéria testicular contida no funículo espermático direito em relação ao esquerdo.

RESUMENSe cree que el escroto bipartido de caprinos de regiones áridas y semiáridas mejora la calidad del semen al contribuir a la regulación térmica intratesticular. Se evaluó la calidad del semen y de los espermatozoides de cuatro machos cabríos con escroto entero y tres con escroto bipartido, por medio de análisis convencionales, membrana plasmática y cromatina de los espermatozoides. Los espermatozoides de animales con escroto bipartido presentan mejor calidad física y morfológica, lo cual sugiere mejor adaptación a climas áridos y semi-áridos. SUMMARYSome bucks from arid and semi-arid regions have scrotal bipartition. It has been speculated that this feature improves semen quality by the regulation of intratesticular temperature. This work evaluated the quality of semen and spermatozoa of four bucks without, and three with scrotum bipartition, through conventional analyses, hypoosmotic swelling test and acridine orange. Results shows better physical and morphological characteristics in addiction better quality of plasma membrane for animals with scrotal bipartition, which suggests better adaptation to arid and semiarid regions in these animals. INTRODUCCIÓNEn regiones cálidas, algunos machos cabríos tienen diferentes grados de bipartición escrotal, llegando incluso casi a presentar sacos individuales para cada testícu-lo, lo que al aumentar la superficie favorece la termorregulación. Aunque estudios in vitro sugieren mejor calidad espermática en machos cabríos con bipartición escrotal (Nunes et al., 1983), esto no ha sido confirmado en la fertilización in vivo (FelicianoSilva et al., 1986). Sin embargo, los caracteres convencionales no predicen cómo la manipulación y el medio ambiente afectan la membrana plasmática y la cromatina del espermatozoide ni cómo repercute en su habilidad fertilizante para lo que los análisis ultraestructurales del espermatozoide son más indicados. Este trabajo pretende comparar, mediante la integridad de membrana y cromatina, la calidad del semen y espermatozoides de ambos tipos de caprinos.
