Functional analysis in the evaluation of four concepts of planters

Abstract: The essential functions of a planter are to open the planting furrow, meter the seeds, deposit them in the furrow, cover them and compact the soil around them. The planter precision is affected, in some way, by each of those functions. Function analysis is a tool used in the conceptual phase of product design which allows an abstract formulation for the function of the technical system, thus making it very useful in product design and in the analysis of existing products. Therefore, the technique of function a… Show more

“…REIS & FORCELLINI (2006) considered the same for LRD, although COELHO (1996), FORCELLINI (2009), andVIANNA et al (2014) considered a 60% goal for single spacings acceptable. This was influenced by errors in seed metering, depositing, depth, and coverage (REIS & FORCELLINI, 2002). Metering errors are influenced by the tangential speed of the orifices, which should be less than 0.3m s -1 (REIS & FORCELLINI, 2006;VIANNA et al, 2014).…”

“…As principais funções de uma semeadora são: abrir o sulco de semeadura, dosar sementes, depositá-las no sulco, cobri-las e compactar o solo em torno delas. (REIS & FORCELLINI, 2002). Atualmente, a maioria das máquinas disponíveis no mercado são dotadas de mecanismos simultâneos, ou seja, desempenham as operações de adubação e semeadura simultaneamente (MACHADO et al, 2005).…”

“…For example, it can help to minimize waste of seeds by eliminating the need for thinning in certain field operations, leading to more efficient, economical and talented agriculture [6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13] . There are many criteria required for placing seeds in PP, including seeding rate, seed spacing, seed meters and methodologies, positions within the furrow, planting depth, etc [14][15][16][17][18] . The planter is a main farm implement for PP.…”
