Abstract: Os neurônios espelho foram descritos inicialmente em macaco Rhesus. Estes neurônios disparavam quando o macaco realizava ações específi cas (como pegar uvas passa) ou quando ele observava a mesma ação realizada por outro macaco ou por um pesquisador. Assim, estes neurônios possibilitam a compreensão da ação e/ou da intenção de outro animal pela ativação subliminar desta ação nos circuitos fronto-parietais.
