Glycyrrhizinic acid (GL), … Show more

“…It is speculated that anti-inflamatory action of β-glycyrrhetinic acid (88) is caused by inhibition of steroidal of 11β-hydroxylase (Kroes et al, 1997). Of increasing interests are also semi-synthetic derivatives of 88 with antitrombotic activity (Graebin et al, 2010). New generation of sweeteners emerged from replacement of hydroxyl function with amine group (Ijichi et al, 2005).…”

“…The filtrate was evaporated. The resulting samples were analyzed by HPLC and separated by Synthesis and Anti-HIV-1 Activity 441 4 , and evaporated to dryness. The residue was dissolved in EtOH (70 -75%, 50 mL) and worked up with KU-2-8 cation exchanger (H + -form).…”

“…Glycyrrhizic acid (GA, I) is a bioactive saponin from roots of Glycyrrhiza glabra L. and G. uralensis Fisher (Leguminosae) and is known to have anti-inflammatory, antiulcer, anti-allergic, antidote, antitumor, and immunotropic activity [2]. GA is one of the leading natural glycosides and is a promising scaffold for designing new non-toxic antiviral agents [3,4]. GA inhibits HIV-1, influenza A virus, Epstein-Barr, herpes, hepatitis B and C, SARS-associated coronavirus, etc.…”

“…Several studies conducted on animal models and in humans have demonstrated the hepatoprotective, anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, anti-ulcer and antimicrobial activities of GL and licorice root extracts [18,19]. Several extraction and separation methods for GL have been developed, including macro-porous resin separation, microwave-assisted extraction, pressurized hot water extraction, as well as high-speed and multi-stage countercurrent chromatography [20][21][22][23].…”
