Four new metal complexes with the amino acid deoxyalliin

Abstract: ] were obtained from the reaction of cobalt(II), nickel(II), copper(II) and iron(II) salts with the potassium salt of the amino acid deoxyalliin (S-allyl-L-cysteine). Electronic absorption spectra of the complexes are typical of octahedral structures. Infrared spectroscopy confirms the ligand coordination to the metal ions through (COO -) and (NH 2 ) groups. EPR spectrum of the Cu(II) complex indicates a slight distortion of its octahedral symmetry. Mössbauer parameters permitted to identify the presence of ir… Show more

“…The suggestion of a polymeric structure is supported by the previously published results on [Pt 2 (m-NAC-S) 2 (bpy) 2 ] (bpy ¼ bipyridine) and [(NAC-S)(H 2 O)Pt(m-NAC-S) 2 Pt(H 2 O)(NAC-S)] Á H 2 O where the sulfur of NAC bridges two metals [19,21]. The insolubility of the complex in both polar and non-polar solvents reinforces the proposition of the polymeric structure, as observed for other polymeric metal complexes involving -amino acids [35][36][37].…”

“…In order to further support our hypothesis, FT-IR spectra of Rh/l-Cys complex and of the free aminoacid in the range of 4500-600 cm −1 were recorded. We can observe that the band present in the cysteine spectrum at 2550 cm −1 , due to the S-H stretching, is absent in the Rh/l-Cys spectrum, so confirming the Rh-S interaction; moreover, the strong band at 3427 cm −1 possibly indicates a coordination of the amino group to the metal atom [27].…”

“…Metal complexes were synthesized by a modified method published by Massabni, Corbi, Melnikov, Zacharias, and Rechenberg (2005). Disodium salt of L-cysteine, prepared from 0.02 mol of Lcysteine and 0.04 mol of NaOH in 50 mL of distilled water, was mixed with an equimolar amount of FeSO 4 Á 7H 2 O or CoSO 4 Á 7H 2 O in 20 mL of distilled water.…”
