“…As early as 1998, it was reported that ADM was planted into the upper lip to improve secondary whistling lip deformity, though biological process and mechanisms were not elucidated (Rhee et al., 1998). Since then numerous research have proven its ability to repair tissues, including the derma (Eweida & Marei, 2015; Gangwar et al., 2015; Mohd Hilmi et al., 2013), oral mucosa (Hudson & Pickett, 2015; Ophof et al., 2004; Carney et al., 2012), bone (Portinho et al., 2014), and the rotator cuff (Ide et al., 2009). Acellular dermal matrix can also be used as a subcutaneous filling material (O'Reilly et al., 2015; Lee et al., 2014; Castor et al., 1999).…”

“…Acellular dermal matrix can also be used as a subcutaneous filling material (O'Reilly et al., 2015; Lee et al., 2014; Castor et al., 1999). In addition, ADM has been planted into bodies combined with bioactive substances like EGF (Wu et al., 2015), PDGF (Carney et al., 2012), BMP (Portinho et al., 2014), FGF‐2 (Ide et al., 2009) and siRNA (Vandegrift et al., 2015), which demonstrates that ADM has potential as a scaffold material. For these reasons, use of an ADM is a promising technique to supply the muscular dysplasia in cleft lip and palate treatment.…”
