Abstract: PURPOSE:To develop a new experimental model of lower cost for training in videosurgery. METHODS: This project was performed at the Nucleus of Experimental Surgery of the Bahiana School of Medicine and PublicHealth, based on previous models described in the literature and under the supervision of the full professor of Operative Technique and Experimental Surgery II. It was made a model cube-shaped, made of wood, with holes distributed in various locations, rubber stoppers for the holes and lined externally with… Show more

“…The black box model developed by EBMSP academics simulates an abdomen in a pneumoperitoneum, allowing training on a bidimensional vision in a monitor without the perception of depth, improving coordination abilities at using the laparoscopic surgical tweezers, and camera control by the auxiliary. The model has a low cost and it can play back the images and movements similar to those performed on videosurgeries 3 .…”

“…Internal The black box used by the students on the learning of videosurgery requires 3.6 hours for its assembly, with a meantime of seven minutes to prepare it for the practical experiments 3 . Tables 2 and 3 estimate global costs for obtainment of the models, based on popular market prices, which are of: $ 6.00 per kilogram for the swine belly; $ 27.2 for the Bahiana box (Table 2); $100.00 for the black box (Table 3).…”

“…On the front side there are a rectangular opening (6) and a perpendicular support (7) for accommodating tablets and the like, to capture images and indirect Although there are other inexpensive devices as an alternative to more sophisticated simulators used in large training centers [8][9][10][11] , we believe such devices have some limitations: they are usually made as heavy containers with large size, rendering transport and mobility difficult; they often require an interior light source, generated by another device or an external light nearby, hampering portability; furthermore, in most cases they require the use of trocars for manipulation of laparoscopic instruments.…”
