Show more

“…The effects of methylene blue on the prevention of pulmonary lesions due to ischemia-reperfusion reduced neutrophil se-questration in the histological analysis and a reduction in pulmonary edema 30 . On the prevention of intestinal and renal lesions following intestinal ischemia and reperfusion methylene blue does not play any role in protecting the organs examined 31 .…”

“…Cerebral tissue sections (4 µm) were prepared, deparaffinized, hydrated and stained with hematoxylin and eosin. Histological parameters (pyknosis, red neurons, congestion and intracellular edema) were scored on a 4-point scale (0, 1, 2, 3) from absent to severe, as described by Greca et al 20 .…”

“…Group G1 served as control; G-1 animals were also anesthetized but no surgical procedure was performed. Twenty-four hours later, all animals were killed by cervical dislocation and fragments of lung tissue were removed, collected and stored in a -80ºC freezer until processed for determination of myeloperoxidase activity and for histopathological evaluation of edema and neutrophilic infiltration by methods described previously 6,7 .…”
