Abstract:Nitric oxide (NO) is involved in the inhibitory neurotransmission in the sphincteric and non-sphincteric smooth muscles. However, the relative contribution of nitric oxide synthesizing innervation to these functionally diverse parts of the gut, particularly during development, is unknown.
