ABSTRACT. The goal of this study was to apply the Mann-Kendall test to the rainfall data of eight macroregions of the Ceará State aiming to determine climate trends in their time series. To this end were used rainfall data obtained by the FUNCEME for the period 1974-2011. The Mann-Kendall test was applied to verify trends in rainfall series, and the Students's t-test to check significant differences in the trend values. Downward trends in annual rainfall were found for the metropolitan region of Fortaleza, Sertão dos Inhamuns and Sertão Central, areas that also presented smaller green areas and/or fewer vegetated areas. Upward trends in rainfall were observed on the West Coast, Sobral/Ibiapaba, Baturité, East Coast/ Jaguaribe and Cariri/South Central.

A B S T R A C TQuantifying and monitoring evapotranspiration in large natural forests is vital for monitoring the climate, water resources and biodiversity of the ecosystem, especially in an area with high climatic variability, water and biodiversity, such as Northeast Brazil. The objective of this study is to evaluate evapotranspiration in areas of the Atlantic Forest using remote sensing data and to determine how evapotranspiration can affect rainfall changes on a local scale. We used the Surface Energy Balance Algorithm for Land (SEBAL) and Thornthwaite models to estimate evapotranspiration. The input models used Landsat images and observations from agro-meteorological stations. An estimate of the actual evapotranspiration by the Thornthwaite method was over a 10-day period, and SEBAL was used over 24 hours. The daily actual evapotranspiration was between 5 and 6 mm/day. We computed the cross correlation coefficient and standard error with lag seven (10-day) for maximum evapotranspiration with SEBAL (Evap_SEBAL_max) and rainfall decennial (R10). The evapotranspiration had a positive correlation with rainfall. The correlation is significant for the last ten days (lag -1), with r=0.389. While this value does not indicate a strong statistical correlation by itself, physically it designates a positive influence of the local evapotranspiration on local precipitation, given all the other environmental aspects that influence precipitation. The results suggest that local evapotranspiration can be influencing the local rainfall. Thus, knowing the amount of water being used by the forest and released to the atmosphere is important. These results can be used for improve climate prediction and climate change models at the local scale.

Resumo Este trabalho objetivou realizar o levantamento florístico e identificar o padrão de distribuição dos representantes de Erythroxylaceae, como parte do projeto Flora do Ceará. As identificações e descrições foram baseadas na análise morfológica de amostras obtidas em campo e de herbários (CEPEC, EAC, F, HCDL, HST, HUEFS, HVASF, IPA, MBM, NY, RB, TEPB, UFP, UFRN), imagens digitais de coleções-tipos disponíveis nos sítios dos Herbários F, K e NY, Reflora - Herbário Virtual, speciesLink e bibliografias. Para o Ceará foram registradas 24 espécies de Erythroxylum ocorrendo preferencialmente em climas estacionalmente secos, como Savana Estépica (Carrasco) e Floresta Estacional Decidual (mata seca). Quanto à área de distribuição, sete espécies ocorrem extra Brasil, 17 são restritas ao território brasileiro, dez à região Nordeste e uma ao Ceará (E. angelicae). Um total de 20 espécies foi registrado em Unidades de Conservação do estado: Parque Nacional de Ubajara (7), Reserva Particular do Patrimônio Natural Serra das Almas (7), Floresta Nacional do Araripe (6) e Estação Ecológica de Aiuaba (4). Erythroxylum bezerrae e E. tianguanum estão ameaçadas de extinção.
