“…In the literature, it is found that carvacrol chemotypes (8,11,13) of T. capitatus are common while thymol chemotypes are rare (14,30,31). Lesjak (27) .Eftekhar et al reported that the antimicrobial activity of the EO of T. caramanicus against H. pylori was higher than the clarithromycin (19) and these results were supported in this studyís (32). In the present study, the highest thymol value was found in Tc2 (Yıldırım) (57.1%); however, Tc3 (Boğaz-Girne was found as the most active against H. pylori.…”

“…However, we need further study to test pure components of thymol and carvacrol. In addition, according to study results, the use of carvacrol rich EO or its main components seems to have the potential to be used in combination with treatments potentiating a total eradication (32,33).…”

“…As mentioned above, some essential oils and their constituents have been proved to have role as pharmaceuticals and food preservatives due to their, among others, antioxidant and antimicrobial capacity and most of them have GRAS status [9,11,64].The main objective of incorporating essential oils and their constituents into edible coatings is to use their antioxidant and antimicrobial capacity to improve edible coatings in the preservation of fresh and fresh-cut horticultural commodities and by increasing their shelf life.…”

“…The essential oil of T. caespititius from Planalto Central, Brazil, used at 0.08 mg/mL on adenocarcinoma gastric cells (ACC201) decreased the viability to 45% in the first 30 min, but at the end of the first hour viability had recovered to 64% and at the end of the assay (8 h) the viability was maintained at 95%. Higher concentrations of the essential oil, 0.50 and 1.00 mg/mL, were detrimental to the viability of the gastric cell line (30 (6). Origanum onites (Lamiaceae) essential oil and its two phenolic components, thymol and carvacrol, induced membrane damage on Hep G2 cells (32).…”
