Abstract: ABSTRACT(Orchidaceae from Serra Negra and Serra do Funil, Rio Preto, Minas Gerais, and fl oristic similarity between grassland and forest formations of Brazil). Th is study presents a survey of the Orchidaceae from Serra Negra and Serra do Funil (SN/SF), 'Zona da Mata' , Minas Gerais state, and analyzes the fl oristic similarity of this family among 29 grassland and forest sites in Brazil. Cluster analysis used the UPGMA algorithm, Sørensen coeffi cient, and bootstrap analyses with 5,000 replications. Th e clu… Show more

“…The Núcleo Curucutu (NC) appeared separated from other sites because it shares species with the two main groups (4 and 5). This was also found by Abreu, Menini Neto & Konno () on a study of Orchidaceae from caatinga, cerrado, Atlantic Forest and southern Brazilian campos (grasslands), where NC was positioned as a sister group to all Atlantic Forest areas. The NC protected area comprises a wide elevational range of DEF and therefore it appears to bring together the flora from both regions, where southern species dwell in the higher parts of the park.…”

“…The richest families found in this area are often cited as being the most representative in the predominantly rural areas of Minas Gerais (Giulietti et al 1997, Pirani et al 2003, Leoni & Tinte 2004, Alves & Kolbek 2009. Orchidaceae is the richest family in the Atlantic Forest, and it is often referred as the most representative in highlands or rupestrian fields, such as Serra do Brigadeiro State Park (PESB) (Leoni & Tinte 2004, Caiafa & Silva 2005, Ibitipoca Estadual Park (PEI) (Menini- Neto et al 2007) and Serra Negra (Abreu et al 2011).…”
