Palinotaxonomia de espécies de Chrysolaena H. Rob., Echinocoryne H. Rob. e Stenocephalum Sch. Bip. (Vernonieae-Compositae) ocorrentes no sudeste do Brasil

Abstract: RESUMO -(Palinotaxonomia de espécies de Palavras-chave: Compositae, palinologia, taxonomia,VernoniinaeABSTRACT -(Palynotaxonomy of Chrysolaena H. Rob., Echinocoryne H. Rob. and Stenocephalum Sch. Bip. (Vernonieae-Compositae) species from Southeast Brazil). A pollen study of 11 species distributed in three genera, Chrysolaena H. Rob., Echinocoryne H. Rob. and Stenocephalum Sch. Bip. belonging to the Vernoniinae subtribe was carried out to characterize the pollen of these species and evaluate their taxonomic pos… Show more

“…Since the taxonomic treatment realized by Robinson (1988), where the author segregates Chrysolaena from Vernonia Schreb., 1791, most of the studies have been focused in nomenclature, anatomy, cytology and palynology (Martins and Oliveira 2007, Oliveira et al 2007b, Mendonça et al 2007, Dematteis 2009, Galastri et al 2010, Via do Pico and Dematteis 2012a, 2012b, 2013, Appezzato-da-Glória et al 2012). Despite these contributions, the chromosome information is still scarce.…”

“…This pollen type is very common in Chrysolaena H. Rob. (Robinson 1988, Mendonça et al 2007c), and is also found in Lepidaploa H. Rob. (Robinson 1990, Mendonça et al 2007a).…”

“…Nevertheless, Dematteis (2007) proposed the transfer of Lessingianthus desertorum and L. simplex to Chrysolaena , based on their velutineous pubescens, glandular achenes, and the presence of type C pollen. As a result of Dematteis (2007) new combinations, Lessingianthus subgenus Oligocephalus include only a single species, L. virgulatus, that shares a similar pollen morphology with other members of Chrysolaena (Mendonça et al 2007c). Although proposed taxonomic treatments of the species with type C pollen may not be expected to coincide completely with the limits of the pollen types (Robinson 1990), it would be interesting to evaluate the taxonomic position of L. virgulatus in Lessingianthus .…”

“…and, less commonly, of other recent and fossil palynomorphs. In Brazil, important contributions to the palynology of Asteraceae were made by Salgado-Labouriau (1973); Melhem et al (2003); Mendonça and Gonçalves-Esteves (2000); Mendonça et al (2002, 2007a, 2007b, 2009, 2010); Cancelli et al (2005, 2010); Magenta et al 2010; Souza et al (2016); Souza-Souza et al (2016); Siniscalchi et al (2017); Moreira et al (2018); Soares et al (2020) and Souza-Souza et al (2021, 2022). This study aimed to morphologically characterize the pollen grains of the 13 species of Dendrophorbium that occur in Brazil, of which 11 were described palynologically, for the first time.…”
